Turkish Airlines Sports Club’s Journey in Women’s Volleyball

Turkish Airlines Sports Club was founded in 1979. After withdrawing from volleyball leagues during the 1993-1994 season, the club made its return in 2016, following the election of İlker Ayci as the club president. Starting from Türkiye’s Women’s Volleyball 3rd League, the team quickly ascended, reaching the prestigious Sultanlar League by 2018. They won the Women’s Balkan Volleyball Cup in 2019, earning a spot in the 2019-2020 CEV Women’s Challenge Cup.

In the 2019-2020 season, the team finished 6th in the league. Due to the pandemic, playoff stages and the Kupa Voley tournament were canceled, and the team’s run in the CEV Women’s Challenge Cup ended at the semifinals, also due to the pandemic.

In the 2020-2021 season, the team finished 3rd in the league, securing a spot in the CEV Women’s Champions League. They were eliminated in the quarterfinals of Kupa Voley but had a strong showing in European competitions, reaching the semifinals of the CEV Women’s Challenge Cup.

In the 2021-2022 season, they finished 4th in both the regular season and playoffs, earning a place in the CEV Women’s Cup. Despite a solid run in the CEV Women’s Champions League, they were eliminated in the group stage.
