Turkish Airlines ‘flies high,’ secures 3rd place among world’s largest carriers

Turkish Airlines has maintained its position as the world’s third-largest airline in terms of international passenger capacity and cargo market share in 2024, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Its cargo subsidiary, Turkish Cargo, also climbed to third place globally, achieving a 5.7% market share.
‘Turkish Airlines flies high’
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi commented on the IATA rankings in a statement on social media, saying, “Turkish Airlines flies high. Being the world’s third-largest airline is no small feat. We are proud of this achievement for our country.”
According to the IATA, Turkish Airlines has risen significantly in global rankings over the past decade. In 2012, it was ranked 13th in passenger capacity and 26th in cargo market share, marking a remarkable growth trajectory in the aviation sector.
