At the prestigious World Airline Awards ceremony held in London, Turkish Airlines (THY) and SunExpress, a joint venture of Türkiye’s national flag carrier THY and German carrier Lufthansa, both received significant accolades.

THY was celebrated as Europe’s Best Airline for the 9th time, along with winning awards for the World’s Best Business Class Catering and Southern Europe’s Best Airline. SunExpress, meanwhile, was named Europe’s Best Leisure Airline, reaffirming its excellence in the aviation industry.

THY commits to Turkish hospitality

The awards were accepted on behalf of THY by CEO Bilal Eksi. Eksi expressed his delight at receiving these prestigious awards from Skytrax.

SunExpress named “Best Leisure Airline” in Europe

SunExpress, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, has been named “Europe’s Best Leisure Airline” at the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

Following its win last year, SunExpress has retained this prestigious title, having also been awarded “World’s Best Leisure Airline” in 2022.

Skytrax passenger satisfaction survey

The Skytrax World Airline Awards are based on an extensive global passenger satisfaction survey conducted annually by the international air transport rating organization Skytrax. This year’s survey included participants from over 100 countries.

Expanding services and capacity

Expanding its direct flights to Türkiye in 2024, SunExpress has increased its seat capacity by 19% compared to the previous year to meet international demand.

Offering direct flights to over 200 destinations in 35 countries, the airline added 28 new routes to its network this summer and aims to carry 15 million passengers in 2024.
