Türkiye’s Confederation of Trade Unions (Turk-Is) announced plans for a one-hour work stoppage on Tuesday, at all organized workplaces. The action is a continuation of their ongoing program demanding fairer income distribution and taxation policies.

The union will begin the day with mass press statements before holding a one-hour sit-in at all participating workplaces.

In a letter to member unions signed by Turk-Is Vice Presidents Ramazan Agar and Irfan Kabaloglu, concerns were raised about ongoing developments disrupting labor peace, particularly regarding living conditions in the workplace.

The letter reminded that the confederation has taken various initiatives in this context, stating, “The negative reflections of the economic and social policies currently implemented in the country on workers, the injustices in income and taxation, and the difficulties in living and working conditions necessitate that our rights and demands be brought back to the agenda.”
