Workers have taken to the streets in response to the rising cost of living, with solutions discussed during demonstrations. The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Turk-Is) has announced that the protests will continue to grow.

Turk-Is organized protests in multiple regions of the country to draw attention to the difficulties faced by workers and retirees. During these demonstrations, they held large press conferences to voice their concerns. In their statements, Turk-Is has declared that the working class will not be defeated by these challenges.

Workers have also announced plans for open-air rallies on Aug. 26 and Sept. 3.

In a joint statement read by Turk-Is provincial representatives across 81 provinces, issued a joint statement that said:

The cost of living, high inflation, an unjust tax system, unemployment… Issues such as insecure employment and informal work are worsening the living conditions of a large part of society, particularly workers. In short, except for a fortunate few, our people are struggling to make ends meet. We have gathered here today to draw attention to these problems and to urge immediate action.
