Social media disruptions in Türkiye continue after Mayor Imamoglu’s detention

Access to X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and WhatsApp remains disrupted in Türkiye following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
While WhatsApp and YouTube have serious slowdowns, access to other platforms is completely cut off.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched a large-scale operation against over 100 individuals, including Mayor Imamoglu.
Reports indicate that over 100 people are facing detention orders, with authorities conducting searches at Imamoglu’s residence as part of the ongoing investigation.
