OpenAI claims The New York Times ‘hacked’ ChatGPT to create evidence in its lawsuit against the company for alleged copyright infringement

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT developer, claimed Thursday that The New York Times “hacked” ChatGPT to create misleading evidence for its lawsuit against the company for alleged copyright infringement.

According to the file submitted to the Southern District Court of New York, OpenAI asked a federal judge to dismiss four allegations in the newspaper’s complaint in The New York Times “copyright” lawsuit filed against the company.

Stating that the allegations in The New York Times’ complaint did not meet journalistic standards, OpenAI claimed that the newspaper paid someone to “hack” its company’s needs.

The New York Times, one of the leading newspapers in the U.S., filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft on Dec.27, 2023, alleging that a non-purpose business and copyright were launched to train artificial intelligence technologies.

The newspaper accused OpenAI of using all its published articles without permission to train chatbots that no longer compete with news sources that are reliable sources of information.
