Market indices in Türkiye rose in October 2024, according to TurkStat
Turkish markets recorded elevated levels of trade sales volume index, turnover index, and construction cost index in October, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported on Wednesday.
According to TurkStat data, the trade sales volume index, which measures changes in the volume of goods and services sold in the retail trade sector, increased by 7.2% year-on-year in October. The total turnover index, representing changes in the total value of sales (turnover), soared by 41.2%.
Meanwhile, the construction cost index, reflecting indicators in the overall costs including materials, labor, and other expenses, leveraged by 37.94% for the same period.
Trade sales volume index
- Overall trade sales volume fell by 1.9% on a monthly basis.
- The retail sales volume index increased by 0.2% on a monthly basis.
- Retail sales rose by 15% year on year.
- Food, drink and tobacco sales grew by 10.6%.
- Non-food sales surged by 20.1%.
- Automotive fuel sales increased by 1%.
- Wholesale and retail trade, along with the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 9.2%.
- Wholesale trade sales volume rose by 3.8%.
Total turnover index
- Total turnover increased by 1.3% on a monthly basis in October.
- Industry increased by 1.1%.
- Construction decreased by 0.1%.
- Trade increased by 0.9%.
- Services increased by 3.6%.
Construction cost index
- The construction cost index increased by 1.48% compared with the previous month.
- The material index increased by 1.73%.
- The labor index increased by 0.98%.
