In 2024, eight of the 10 most-employed job groups in Türkiye were in the services sector, while the manufacturing industry recorded over 1 million job vacancies, according to the Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR).

According to ISKUR’s December 2024 Monthly Statistics Bulletin, the occupations with the highest employment in 2024 are as follows:

  1. Unarmed private security guard: 74,900
  2. Tourism and hospitality staff: 65,123
  3. Shelf attendant: 53,327
  4. Textile worker: 43,830
  5. Service staff (waiter): 40,691
  6. Other manual manufacturing workers: 34,353
  7. Store clerk: 33,256
  8. Sales representative/consultant: 33,240
  9. Call center representative: 24,804
  10. Food retail salesperson: 24,642

Manufacturing industry leads in job vacancies

Employers posted 2.57 million job vacancies through ISKUR last year, with 99.1% of them coming from the private sector. The manufacturing industry topped the list with 1.14 million vacancies, followed by:

  • Wholesale and retail trade: 351,502
  • Administrative and support services: 337,480

On the other hand, in 2024, 1.45 million individuals secured employment, representing a 17.53% increase from 2023, when 1.24 million people were hired. Of those employed last year, 555,921 were women, and 897,912 were men, with 45,000 individuals with disabilities.

On a regional basis, Istanbul led employment figures, with 340,689 people hired, followed by:

  • Ankara: 107,830
  • Izmir: 80,542
  • Bursa: 60,733
  • Kocaeli: 58,489

Operating under the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, ISKUR plays a pivotal role in maintaining and increasing employment levels.

The agency focuses on enhancing the vocational skills of unemployed individuals, reducing unemployment, and integrating special policy groups into the labor market.
