Advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, Serkan Ozcan, urged President Erdogan on Sunday to address what he described as deliberate speculation regarding the resignation of Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek.

Ozcan stressed the importance of supporting Simsek and his team to ensure his continued role and the success of economic policies.

He suggested that the rumors about Simsek’s resignation are intentionally spread by factions within the government interested in his position.

He also criticized comparisons between Simsek and former finance ministers Berat Albayrak, Sahap Kavcioglu, and Nurettin Nebati, calling them unfair and misguided.

Ozcan appealed to President Erdogan, stating: “President Erdogan should promptly offer public support to (Mr.) Simsek and his team.”

“This is not just a preference but a necessity for the stability of the country’s fragile economy,” Ozcan maintained.
