Istanbul increases public transport fares by up to 22.19%
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) has announced a substantial increase in public transportation fares. Prices for buses, taxis, and ferries have risen by up to 22.19%, impacting commuters across the city.
The fare increases were discussed and approved by a majority vote at the UKOME meeting, reflecting the rising operational costs, and significant changes in the cost of living and travel within the city.
Detailed fare adjustments
IMM raised public transportation fares by 13% and doubled the fares for sea taxis.
Electronic tickets:
- Full fare increased by 13%, from ₺17.70 to ₺20.
- Monthly student pass cost has been increased from ₺250 to ₺282.5.
Taxis:
- Starting fare up 22.19%, from ₺24.55 to ₺30.
- Distance rate per kilometer increased from ₺17.61 to ₺20.
- Hourly rate raised from ₺195.63 to ₺235.
- Base fare adjusted from ₺90 to ₺100.
Ferries:
- Uskudar-Eminonu: up 13% from ₺22.42 to ₺25.33.
- Kadikoy-Eminonu: from ₺24.98 to ₺28.23.
- Kadikoy-Besiktas: from ₺24.98 to ₺28.23.
- Bostanci-Adalar: from ₺65.85 to ₺74.41.
Minibuses:
- Shortest distance (up to 4 kilometers): up 16%, from ₺15.50 to ₺18.
- 4-7 km: from ₺16.50 to ₺19.
- 7-11 km: from ₺18 to ₺20.
- 11-15 km: from ₺18.50 to ₺21.
- 15-20 km: from ₺20 to ₺22.5.
- Student fare: up 20%, from ₺10 to ₺12.
School and personnel services:
- School service (0-1 km): up 16%, from ₺1665 to ₺1931.40.
- Personnel service (10-17 seat minibusses): from ₺865.69 to ₺1,004.20.
