Imports claim nearly 70% of Turkish auto market
In the first half of 2024, imported vehicles continued to dominate Türkiye’s automobile and light commercial vehicle market, capturing 69.27% of total sales. The share of domestically produced vehicles stood at 30.72%.
According to data compiled by the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), Türkiye’s total car and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 3.7% compared to the same period last year, reaching 577,981 units.
Sales breakdown
- Total sales: 577,981 units
- Domestic vehicles: 177,591 units
- Imported vehicles: 400,390 units
The increase in sales was driven by a 7.3% rise in car sales, which totaled 462,955 units. However, sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 8.7% to 115,026 units.
