Turkish-made Brific scooter takes over Europe with award-winning design
Scooter vehicles, an increasingly global trend, offer practical and enjoyable solutions for short and medium-distance mobility needs in growing urban traffic.
However, amid rising demand, European brands are being overshadowed by Chinese manufacturers. Now, a Turkish company is making a breakthrough in this technology-driven sector.
100% domestic engineering
Developed by Turkish company GMF Motor, the e-mobility product Brific is entirely produced with 100% domestic capital and engineering. Even before its release, Brific has already won the IF Design Awards 2024 for its design excellence.
Kaan Erdemir, a member of the company’s Board of Directors, stated that they initially invested €2 million, with a significant portion allocated for R&D.
By the end of 2024, we aim to sell 3000 Brific units in Türkiye, targeting a turnover of €4.5 million. In early 2025, we will commence sales in 12 European countries simultaneously. Our initial target is to sell 14,000 units and achieve €21 million in exports. We aim to capture 5% of the Turkish market soon and 2% of the global market within 3 years

Market grew tenfold in 5 years
Highlighting a tenfold growth in the global market over the past five years, Erdemir attributed this to increased individual travel preferences post-pandemic.
“The positive impact of such electric vehicles on transportation, traffic, the environment, and quiet cities is driving their popularity. Additionally, bans on e-scooter rental services because of urban pollution are boosting sales. Consequently, the market is expanding strongly and positively,” he noted.
Award-winning design
Erdemir emphasized that Brific, in the performance class, is 20% lighter than its closest competitor in its segment.
“As one of Türkiye’s five major motor manufacturers, GMF Motor produces its own engines. Our engine developed entirely with original engineering, is 5.5% more efficient and 20% lighter compared to competitors in its class,” he added.
GMF Motor’s engines are manufactured entirely with original engineering, design and topology, utilizing completely domestic resources.
Brific features an ‘advanced riding’ position similar to bicycles and motorcycles, providing better ergonomic compatibility. It has a carrying capacity of 130 kilograms, supports various driving modes, and can be updated via Bluetooth and NFC.
“Receiving the IF Design Awards before its market release has been an additional source of pride for us,” Erdemir concluded.
