Ex-Twitter chiefs take legal action against Elon Musk
A lawsuit alleges that Musk has a consistent history of failing to pay bills
Previous high-ranking officials of the social media platform Twitter, now known as X, are taking legal action against the company’s proprietor Elon Musk, asserting that he owes them $128 million.
They contend that Musk orchestrated sham “cause” terminations to avoid paying severance by firing them before they could resign and receive their entitlements. The most recent legal action, which is at least the 30th lawsuit against X for its refusal to remunerate, alleges that the former executives were informed that they were terminated due to “gross negligence and willful misconduct” without any substantiating evidence.
The lawsuit, filed in California on Monday, claims that Musk terminated them without cause simply because he chose not to provide them with severance benefits and subsequently fabricated justifications while enlisting personnel from his various enterprises to support his decisions.
The lawsuit further alleges that under Musk’s supervision, Twitter has become a violator of the law, neglecting to compensate employees, landlords, suppliers, and others. It asserts that Musk evades payment, considers himself exempt from regulations, and exploits his affluence and authority to dominate those who oppose him. According to Twitter’s former top executives, Musk’s refusal to compensate them is part of a broader trend of denying former Twitter employees the benefits and remuneration they are owed.
