Customs-free shopping limit reduces to $28.1 in Türkiye
A new regulation announced in the Official Gazette on Saturday reduced the shopping limit for purchases from abroad to €27 ($28.1) in Türkiye.
With that change, purchases exceeding €27 from foreign-based e-commerce sites will be subject to customs procedures and import regulations.
On Aug. 6, a presidential decree lowered the customs limit for international purchases from €150 to €30. On Nov. 27, another regulation was issued, stipulating that this amount would include shipping costs and would take effect in one month.
Further details provided in another presidential decree released on Sunday clarified that the customs-free shopping limit would be reduced to €27, with a €3 freight cost included in the calculation. Even if sellers offer free shipping, a €3 transport fee will be assumed as mandatory.
This decision will impact popular China-based e-commerce platforms like Temu and AliExpress, which have grown increasingly popular but have faced challenges due to new regulations.
The new regulation will take effect on Dec. 27, 2024.
