BMW maintains global growth with notable performance in Türkiye
German auto giant BMW Group has continued its strong momentum during 2024, spearheaded by its electric vehicle lineup, as the company achieved a remarkable 13.5% year-on-year increase, selling 426,594 electric vehicles in total of 2,450,804 sales.
Munchen-based company also maintained its global leadership in the premium segment, delivering 2,200,177 vehicles in 2024.
Meanwhile, MINI, a sub-brand of BMW, recorded an impressive 80.59% increase in sales, becoming the third fastest-growing brand in the passenger car market.
Jochen Goller, BMW AG Board Member responsible for brands, highlighted the company’s performance in a press release on Jan. 13, stating, “The BMW Group is maintaining its growth trajectory for fully electric vehicles amid challenging market conditions. This is reflected in both the significant sales growth for fully electric vehicles and the clear rise in new BEV orders in Europe.”
Remarkable contribution to Turkish market
In Türkiye, Borusan Otomotiv, BMW Group’s distributor, played a pivotal role in the brand’s success, with 10,181 electric BMWs and 3,635 electric MINIs sold, securing a 14% share of the electric vehicle market. Notably, 39.5% of BMW sales and 76.4% of MINI sales in Türkiye were fully electric models.
Borusan Otomotiv also earned the title of the “World’s Largest BMW Distributor” with 25,784 BMWs sold in 2024, retaining its title as the “World’s Largest MINI Distributor” for a second consecutive year.
MINI Türkiye, with a sales increase of 80.59%, reached 4,755 units, becoming the fastest-growing brand in the passenger car market and the leader in the premium segment. Globally, MINI Türkiye ranked fifth in electric MINI sales, holding the top spot for fully electric vehicle sales with a 76.4% share.
