Bangladesh has invited Turkish investors to explore opportunities in its economic zones, as senior officials from both countries met on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Türkiye, according to an official statement released Saturday.

During a meeting on Friday between Bangladesh’s Adviser for Information and Broadcasting, Md. Mahfuj Alam, and Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat, the two sides discussed key aspects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Highlighting the long-standing friendship and fraternal ties between Türkiye and Bangladesh, Minister Bolat reaffirmed Türkiye’s interest in deepening economic relations with the South Asian nation.

According to Alam’s office, Bolat also expressed interest in organizing a meeting of the Türkiye-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission in Dhaka later this year.

The meeting follows Bolat’s official visit to Bangladesh in January, when he led a high-level delegation to explore new avenues for trade and investment.

During that visit, the Turkish delegation held talks with interim government head Muhammad Yunus and Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin.

Discussions covered a wide range of potential collaborations, including the introduction of Turkish technologies to Bangladesh, the relocation of Turkish manufacturing facilities, and cooperation in sectors such as defense, infrastructure, energy and health tourism.

The trade volume between Türkiye and Bangladesh surpassed $1.3 billion in 2024, with both sides aiming to further expand economic ties in the coming years.
