Antalya Airport set to double capacity with new terminals, says transport minister

Antalya Airport, one of Türkiye’s key tourism hubs, is poised to more than double its annual passenger capacity—from 35 million to 82 million—with the inauguration of new terminal buildings on April 12, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced Sunday.
The expansion is seen as a critical step in supporting the region’s tourism growth. According to the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Türkiye aims to welcome over 18 million tourists to Antalya alone this year.
In a written statement, Minister Uraloglu said the new terminals will be inaugurated with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

As part of the upgrades, the number of aircraft parking positions has increased from 108 to 176 with the addition of new apron areas. The VIP terminal has been expanded from 690 square meters to 2,000 square meters, while the general aviation terminal grew from 1,200 to 2,800 square meters.

Nearly 40 million passengers in 2024
Highlighting the nearing completion of the terminal expansion works, Uraloglu said, “We are increasing the international terminal space from 90,143 square meters to 224,000, and the domestic terminal from 36,859 square meters to 75,000.”
He emphasized that the construction has not disrupted transportation or tourism activity in the region.
“Our airport continues to operate without interruption, in full compliance with all national and international regulations,” Uraloglu noted.
“By the end of 2024, we served 45,351 domestic flights with 6,242,379 passengers and 188,748 international flights with 32,988,354 passengers. In total, Antalya Airport handled 234,099 flights and 39,230,733 passengers last year.”
