Amazon ventures very first online new car sales with Hyundai
Global e-commerce giant Amazon introduced the very first online new car sales in 48 U.S. cities through a collaboration with Korean car maker Hyundai.
The system allows users to browse new vehicles available at Hyundai dealerships, place orders, and schedule delivery dates via Amazon’s website or app.
While platforms like CarMax and Carvana focus solely on used car sales, Amazon’s partnership with Hyundai represents an industry first in the sale of new vehicles. Brands like Tesla and Polestar, however, still rely on showroom-based sales in limited states.
Hyundai aims to boost customer satisfaction and improve the dealership experience through this online sales initiative with Amazon. Amazon plans to expand the service next year by including more Hyundai dealerships and additional car brands.
Transparent pricing and seamless transactions
Amazon emphasizes that one of the key benefits of the system is “transparent pricing,” offering a purchasing process free from hidden fees, document charges, or additional dealership costs.
Fan Jin, Global Head of Amazon Autos, stated, “We are bringing the convenience and transparency that customers expect from Amazon to car shopping. We are thrilled to have Hyundai as our first launch partner and aim to add more brands as the program grows.”
Trade-ins and flexible financing
Amazon also caters to customers wishing to trade in their existing vehicles. By providing instant market value assessments, users can take advantage of flexible purchasing solutions, including financing options or direct payments.
Fan Jin added, “Our goal is to make vehicle purchasing more transparent, customer-friendly, and accessible by working closely with dealerships.”
