As part of an ongoing investigation into unusual price fluctuations in Borsa Istanbul’s (BIST) Equity Market, 17 suspects accused of engaging in manipulative activities involving capital market instruments have been detained.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation following extraordinary price movements in the BIST Equity Market.

The probe focuses on manipulative transactions in capital market instruments that allegedly triggered sharp declines in BIST.

The prosecutor’s office deemed these fluctuations as actions lacking a reasonable economic or financial basis, which could disrupt market trust, transparency, and stability.

As a result, a detention order was issued for individuals identified as engaging in market manipulation.

Following the prosecutor’s directive, law enforcement carried out operations centered in Istanbul, leading to the detention of 17 individuals.
