Turkish authorities detained 104 suspects during a large-scale anti-drug operation, “Demir Kiran-1,” carried out in Ankara and Diyarbakir, according to a statement from the Ankara Governor’s Office.
The operation, conducted under the directives of the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and led by the Ankara Police Department’s Anti-Narcotics Division, targeted 137 individuals suspected of drug trafficking activities.
Operation targets drug trafficking networks
The statement revealed that 102 suspects were apprehended in Ankara and two were in Diyarbakir. During searches of homes and businesses linked to the suspects, authorities confiscated:
287 synthetic pharmaceutical drugs
Bonzai, methamphetamine, heroin, and cannabis
Two precision scales
Nine handguns
One blank-firing gun
Five hunting rifles
The detained suspects are currently undergoing legal procedures.
Authorities pledge continued efforts against drug crimes
Officials emphasized that efforts to combat drug-related crimes would persist with determination, underscoring the importance of such operations in protecting public health and safety.
