Iran, Syria in talks to reopen embassies: Iranian official
Iranian Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani announced ongoing diplomatic talks with Syria aimed at reopening their respective embassies.
Diplomatic consultations underway for embassy reopenings
Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Mohajerani stated that both sides are ready and discussions are progressing through diplomatic channels.
“Our approach regarding the embassy in Syria is diplomatic. Both we and they are prepared. Diplomatic consultations are ongoing to reopen embassies in both countries,” Mohajerani said, according to Iran’s official news agency, IRNA.
“Maintaining the territorial integrity of Syria is one of the very important issues that Iran pursues, and naturally preventing the growth and spread of terrorism is one of the very important issues that is important for the region, so that Syria does not suffer again in this matter, nor do neighboring countries suffer,” Mohajerani added.
Iran stresses support for Syria’s sovereignty, stability
Mohajerani emphasized Iran’s commitment to preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and supporting a government based on the will of the Syrian people.
“Preventing the spread of terrorism is important both for us and for the region,” she added. However, Mohajerani did not provide further details regarding the timeline or specific steps involved in the embassy reopening process.

The announcement follows comments from Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, who stated a day earlier that Tehran does not currently have direct connections with Syria’s existing government.
