Erdogan outperforms opposition CHP’s top 3, reveals poll

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan leads ahead of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) chairman Ozgur Ozel, Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and Ankara mayor Mansur Yavas, revealed Asal Research’s latest “Türkiye Political Agenda December 2024” poll.

The survey was conducted with 1,860 participants across 26 provinces between Dec. 9 and 12, 2024. The margin of error for the poll was noted as +/- 2.34.

In the survey, three different scenarios were presented to participants under the primary question, Who would you vote for if the candidates in the next presidential election were as follows?” The participants were then requested to choose between Erdogan and Ozel, Imamoglu or Yavas.

Respondents were first shown the scenario of the presidential election in which President and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Chairman Erdogan and CHP Chairman Ozel were the candidates. An option of no idea or no response was presented to participant as well.

The results were as follows:

• Erdogan 51.4% vs Ozel 26.1% (no idea 22.5% )
• Erdogan 45.5% vs. Imamoglu 36.3% (no idea 18.2%)
• Erdogan 42% vs. Yavas 39.4% (no idea 18.6%)
