Türkiye surpasses 50M foreign visitors mark by November end
Türkiye hosted a total of 57,363,350 visitors during the first 11 months of 2024, the Turkish tourism ministry reported.
According to the ministry’s report, the number of foreign visitors rose by 7.09% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 50,040,427, including 1,658,523 (3.31%) of excursionists.
In November alone, the number of foreign tourists increased by 8.25% year-on-year, totaling 2,733,663.

- Istanbul: Hosted 51.01% of foreign visitors, 1,394,452 individuals.
- Antalya: Hosted 14.92% of visitors, 407,941 individuals.
- Edirne: Hosted 11.89% of visitors, 324,999 individuals.
- Artvin: Hosted 4.20% of visitors, 114,903 individuals.
- Hakkari: Hosted 2.32% of visitors, 63,399 individuals.
The majority of visitors were concentrated in five provinces during the January-November period as follows:
- Istanbul: Hosted 34.30% of foreign visitors, 17,163,403 individuals.
- Antalya: Hosted 31.27% of visitors, 15,647,876 individuals.
- Edirne: Hosted 8.98% of visitors, 4,494,679 individuals.
- Mugla: Hosted 7.30% of visitors, 3,652,159 individuals.
- Izmir: Hosted 3.31% of visitors, 1,653,978 individuals.
Remarkable increase in East Asian tourism
- During the January-November period, the number of Chinese tourists increased by a striking 70.88%, reaching 381,200.
- Similarly, the number of Japanese tourists rose by an impressive 73.83%, approaching 124,000.

- Germany: Leading the list, Germany accounted for 281,569 visitors in November, reflecting 15.39% growth year-on-year.
- Iran: The number of tourists from Iran surged by 27.16%, reaching 258,918.
- Russia: With a 3.61% increase, 254,552 tourists from Russia visited Turkey in November.
Top countries sending tourists (January–November 2024)
- Russia: With a 6.91% increase, 6,504,350 visitors came to Türkiye, making it the top source of foreign tourists.
- Germany: Ranking second, Germany sent 6,364,990 visitors, marking a 6.80% rise compared to last year.
- United Kingdom: With a significant 16.89% increase, the U.K. contributed 4,338,859 visitors to Türkiye’s tourism figures.
