Türkiye foils 99 terrorist attacks in 2024 operations
Türkiye carried out 51,433 domestic security operations against various terrorist organizations between Jan. 1 and Nov. 30, according to information provided by security sources.
The operations, coordinated by the Interior Ministry, targeted terrorist groups including PKK/YPG, FETO, and Daesh, among others, to ensure national security.
Breakdown of counterterrorism operations
Of the total operations:
- PKK/YPG: 44,882 operations, resulting in 779 terrorists eliminated and 10,297 suspects detained
- FETO: 4,637 operations
- Daesh: 1,310 operations
- Other groups: 604 operations
A combined total of 11,601 suspects were detained during operations targeting FETO, Daesh, and other groups, with 1,894 of them formally arrested.
High-value terrorists eliminated in 2024
Security forces neutralized several high-profile individuals listed in Türkiye’s most-wanted terrorist categories:
- Red category: Seven individuals
- Orange category: Two individuals
- Yellow category: Three individuals
- Gray category: 27 individuals
Financial measures against terrorism
Efforts to prevent terrorism financing led to:
- 239 operations targeting financial networks
- 1,400 suspects were detained, of whom 167 were arrested
- Seizure of over ₺74 million ($2.1 million) from terrorist organizations, including:
- ₺45.8 million linked to FETO
- ₺24.6 million linked to Daesh
- ₺3.4 million linked to PKK/YPG
Preventing planned terrorist attacks
Security forces successfully thwarted 99 terrorist attack plans, including:
- 86 plots by PKK/YPG
- 13 plots by Daesh
Among these, 75 were bomb-related attacks, underscoring the continued vigilance required to address terrorism threats.
