Türkiye plans to establish the Cybersecurity Presidency in 2025 under a presidential decree, aiming to enhance national cybersecurity and IT infrastructure.

The new authority will report directly to the presidency and implement decisions from the Cybersecurity Council, which will include key ministries such as Interior, Justice, National Defense, Transport and Infrastructure, and Industry and Technology.

Cybersecurity Presidency’s role and responsibilities

The Cybersecurity Presidency will focus on:

  • Protecting Türkiye’s IT infrastructure.
  • Coordinating cybersecurity efforts among public institutions.
  • Implementing decisions made by the Cybersecurity Council, chaired by the president.

AK Party prepares legal framework

The ruling AK Party is drafting legislation to define the Cybersecurity Presidency’s organizational structure, duties, and powers.

Under the leadership of Group Chairman Abdullah Guler, the proposed bill will be submitted to the Turkish Parliament following the presidency’s establishment.

  • Timeline: The bill is expected to be presented in January 2025.
  • Scope: Provisions will address governance, operational authority, and responsibilities of the new body.
