Turkish Airlines to resume Benghazi-Istanbul flights after decadelong hiatus

Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s national flag carrier, has announced the resumption of flights between Benghazi, Libya, and Istanbul after a decadelong suspension.
The operations are set to restart on Jan. 14, 2025, with three flights per week.
Flights suspended in 2014 due to Libya’s domestic tensions
The airline initially ceased flights to Benghazi in 2014 due to domestic unrest in Libya. The resumption marks a significant step toward restoring connectivity between the two regions, reflecting improving stability in Benghazi.
This move follows Turkish Airlines‘ earlier announcement of plans to resume flights between Istanbul and Tripoli, Libya’s capital, starting March 2024. The Tripoli route will also end a 10-year hiatus, as the airline steadily re-establishes its presence in Libya.
