47 suspects detained in Daesh counterterrorism operations in Türkiye

Turkish authorities detained 47 suspects in simultaneous operations targeting the Daesh terrorist organization across five provinces, the Ministry of Interior announced.

The operations, named “GURZ-29” were carried out under the coordination of Chief Public Prosecutors’ Offices in Ankara, Istanbul, Mardin, Samsun, and Sakarya, with support from the General Directorate of Security’s Counterterrorism (TEM) Department.

Details of operations targeting Daesh

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided details of the operation via social media:

  • Provincial TEM branches conducted simultaneous raids across the targeted locations.
  • Seized items included unlicensed firearms, a large number of organizational documents, and digital materials linked to Daesh.

Yerlikaya reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to combating terrorism, stating, “Terrorism is the common enemy of humanity. Our operations will continue uninterruptedly for the unity, solidarity and brotherhood of our beloved nation,”

Minister Yerlikaya also highlighted the critical collaboration between public prosecutors and law enforcement agencies in executing these operations.

“I congratulate our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices who coordinated the operations and our Heroic Police Officers who carried out the operations. Our nation’s prayers are with you,” Yerlikaya concluded.
