Spain emerged triumphant in the inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League, securing the title with a 2-0 victory over France

Spain won the inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League title after beating France 2-0 on Wednesday.

Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati, who was crowned the 2023 women’s Ballon d’Or winner in October, scored the opener with a powerful finish for the reigning World Cup holders in the 32nd minute at Seville’s La Cartuja Stadium.

Spain extended their lead on home soil in the second half of the 2024 final.

Another Barcelona player, Mariona Caldentey, curled a right-footed finish into the far corner to make it 2-0 in the 53rd minute.

The Spanish women were crowned the first-ever Nations League champions after the victory.

Bonmati, a 26-year-old Spanish midfielder, was awarded Player of the Tournament finals.

In 2023, Spain won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Sydney for the first time and its first major title.
