The Barzani Charity Foundation, based in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, is delivering aid to families returning to Afrin. However, the PKK terrorist group is blocking these returns, trying to push the local population to other areas.

Details

  • Aid efforts: So far, 839 families have returned to Afrin, with 1,500 more expected to follow. Medical services, food, and essential supplies are being provided.
  • PKK’s obstruction: The PKK/YPG is preventing the return to Afrin and forcibly relocating families to areas like Tel Rifaat and Shahba.
  • Forced migration: The PKK is attempting to move Afrin families to areas like Tabqa, Manbij, and Raqqa.
  • Conditions in Afrin: Afrin residents have been living in camps under harsh conditions for seven years, eager to return to their homes.
  • Disinformation: The PKK is spreading disinformation through its media outlets, claiming that the lives of those returning to Afrin are in danger, while pushing them to go to other regions.

The Barzani Charity Foundation plans to increase the number of families returning to Afrin this year. PKK’s interference is complicating the efforts of local residents to return home.
