Switzerland urges peace after Assad’s regime collapse in Syria

Switzerland called on all parties to prioritize peace and reconciliation after Bashar al-Assad’s regime collapsed in Syria.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized monitoring developments and urged parties to protect civilians, respect human rights, and follow international humanitarian law.
Recent developments in Syria
- Nov. 27: Clashes broke out between Assad regime forces and anti-regime groups in rural Aleppo.
- Nov. 30: Anti-regime forces captured most of Aleppo’s center and took full control of province of Idlib.
- Dec. 5: Following heavy fighting, anti-regime forces seized Hama’s city center and advanced into Homs.
- Dec. 6-7: In Daraa province, opposition forces recaptured the city center and took control of Suwayda and Quneitra.
- Dec. 7: Anti-regime groups took Homs’ provincial center and advanced towards Damascus’ southern suburbs, with Assad forces abandoning critical locations like the Defense and Interior ministries and the international airport.
- Dec. 1: The Syrian National Army liberated Tel Rifaat from the PKK/YPG terrorist group in Aleppo’s rural areas.
