FM Hakan Fidan to attend 22nd Doha Forum in Qatar
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the 22nd Doha Forum in Qatar on Dec. 7-8, 2024, following an invitation from Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The Forum will take place in Qatar‘s capital, Doha, with a focus on global geopolitical tensions, security, technological advancements, and of course, recent events in Syria. FM Fidan is expected to be a speaker during the event according to the forum’s agenda.
Key discussions at the 22nd Doha Forum
The Doha Forum is expected to feature a wide range of participants, including world leaders, politicians, and experts.
This year’s theme is “The Need for Innovation,” with sessions aimed at addressing pressing global issues such as geopolitical conflicts, global security, humanitarian crises, and technological developments.
In addition to the main sessions, the Forum will host various panels and discussions, providing an opportunity for international stakeholders to exchange views and propose solutions to the challenges facing the global community.
Astana Format meeting on the sidelines
A significant meeting is scheduled on the sidelines of the Forum, where the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Russia and Iran will convene to discuss the situation in Syria.
The meeting will be held within the framework of the Astana peace process, a diplomatic initiative aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict.
Minister Fidan is expected to meet with his counterparts from Russia and Iran, as well as other global leaders during the Forum, to address both regional and international matters of concern.
Anticipated high-level participation
The Doha Forum is known for its high-level participation, with past editions attracting thousands of delegates and notable speakers.
Last year’s forum hosted 3,500 guests from 120 countries, with 270 speakers covering a broad array of topics related to diplomacy, security, and innovation.
