A military source revealed on Friday that Syrian security forces thwarted an attempted armed mutiny within the General Staff headquarters in Damascus.

The plot, reportedly involving officers linked to foreign entities, was uncovered and stopped before it could be executed, according to a statement released by the Syrian Ministry of Information on Wednesday.

Pro-regime broadcaster Sama TV reported on the incident, highlighting that the officers involved were allegedly attempting to seize military decision-making power.

The report added that the security operation reflects ongoing efforts by the Syrian Arab Army to maintain internal stability and counter any attempts to undermine the country’s leadership.

Sama TV later issued a denial on their telegram channel regarding the news circulating about the alleged defection of the Prime Minister and other ministers, as well as the reported military coup attempt. The network clarified that these stories were false and fabricated, intended to create confusion and unrest.

Sama TV emphasized that the reports, which were spread by hostile platforms using manipulated images, had no basis in truth. The station urged its viewers to rely on credible and official sources for accurate information.

Details regarding the identities of the officers or the foreign connections involved in the plot have not been disclosed.
