Turkish, Somalia presidents discuss Israeli oppression, aid, relations
President Erdogan and Somalia President Mohamud meet at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum to address Israeli actions in Palestine
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Somalian President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud discussed Israeli actions in the Palestinian territory, humanitarian aid and bilateral relations during their meeting Saturday.
According to Somalia’s Communications Directorate, the discussions between the two leaders at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum also touched upon Türkiye-Somalia relations, humanitarian aid, counterterrorism efforts, and regional and global issues.
President Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Somalia in various areas, particularly emphasizing defense cooperation.
Furthermore, Erdogan expressed Türkiye’s willingness to participate in mediation efforts to address tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia.
“President Erdogan emphasized the need to halt Israel’s aggressive actions in Palestinian territories, stressing that a lasting peace foundation should be based on establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders,” the directorate stated.
The meeting was attended by Türkiye’s National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Head of the National Intelligence Organization Ibrahim Kalin, and the President’s Chief Advisor Akif Cagatay Kilic.
