Japan’s Crown Prince Fumihito, Crown Princess Kiko visit Türkiye
Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko of Japan, who are visiting Türkiye for talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, paid a visit to Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye.
Accompanied by their delegation, the royal couple walked down the Lion’s Road to Ataturk’s mausoleum, where they laid a wreath and observed a moment of silence to honor his memory.
About Crown Prince Fumihito
Fumihito, Crown Prince Akishino, is the heir presumed to the Japanese throne. He is the younger brother of Emperor Naruhito and the younger son of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko.
Since his marriage in June 1990, he has held the title Prince Akishino and heads his own branch of the imperial family.
Crown Prince Fumihito holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Gakushuin University and a PhD in ornithology from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies. In 1990, he married Kiko Kawashima, and they have three children: Mako, Kako and Hisahito.
In November 2020, Fumihito was officially declared heir presumptive to the throne during the Ceremony for Proclamation of Crown Prince in Tokyo.
