Here are Türkiye’s wealthiest individuals over past decade, according to Forbes
Forbes, the renowned U.S.-based business magazine, unveiled its 2024 list of the world’s wealthiest individuals, including 27 business tycoons from Türkiye.
Murat Ulker tops Forbes 2024 billionaires list in Türkiye
According to Forbes, Murat Ulker, Yildiz Holding’s former chief board of directors and chairman of Pladis and Godiva, secured the top position with a net worth of $5.1 billion, outpacing his closest competitor by $2 billion.
Prominent members of the Koc family also ranked high on the list. Ipek Kirac emerged as Türkiye’s richest woman, with a fortune of $3.2 billion, while Semahat Sevim Arsel secured a third place with $3.1 billion. Mustafa Rahmi Koc, with $2.8 billion, completed the top five.
Drastic decline for Ibrahim Erdemoglu
In 2023, Ibrahim Erdemoglu, the chairman of Erdemoglu Holding, was Türkiye’s wealthiest individual, with a net worth of $5.3 billion.
However, in 2024, Erdemoglu experienced a significant downturn, falling to 10th place.
The decline in wealth was driven by a significant drop in SASA Polyester’s share value, which plummeted from ₺10 ($0.29) at the beginning of 2023 to ₺4, causing a loss of over $3 billion in Erdemoglu’s total wealth.
World’s richest person has $233B
According to the list, Bernard Arnault, the owner of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, topped the global rankings with a staggering $233 billion fortune.
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and owner of X, secured second place with a net worth of $195 billion.
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, ranked third with $194 billion, while Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, claimed fourth place with $177 billion.
