The German government is facing significant pressure following the leak of confidential conversations among German Air Force officers regarding the conflict in Ukraine

Germany’s Ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, has been summoned by the Russian Foreign Ministry in response to leaked discussions involving senior German military officials.

The German government is facing significant pressure following the leak of confidential conversations among German Air Force officers regarding the conflict in Ukraine, which were then published by Russian media.

The leaked audio recordings reveal discussions between German Air Force Chief General Ingo Gerhartz and other senior military officers regarding the potential supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

They discussed the possibility of using these missiles to target the Kerch Bridge, which links Crimea to Russia.

In the 38-minute recording, the military officials explored various scenarios should the German government decide to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

They deliberated on whether the Ukrainian military could operate these weapons independently, without direct involvement from the German Air Force, including technical and intelligence support.

The discussions also discussed potential strategies, such as providing Ukraine with satellite images, data, and intelligence through intermediary channels to avoid direct engagement in the conflict.

Last week, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated his opposition to supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, expressing concerns that such actions could escalate into a direct conflict between Russia and NATO.

Scholz emphasized that providing Taurus missiles would require deploying German soldiers for the mission or stationing them in Ukraine.

The Chancellor has faced criticism from his coalition partners and the main opposition Christian Democrats, who argue that he is making a significant error and inadvertently aiding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
