SNA’s Dawn of Freedom operation
According to information from security sources, Syrian regime forces lost control of significant territories within a short period following the launch of opposition operations in Aleppo.
In response to these setbacks, the regime reportedly sought support from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization to counter opposition advances.
The PKK/YPG viewed the Syrian regime forces’ handover of controlled territories as an opportunity and initiated a plan to establish a terror corridor between Tel Rifaat and northeastern Syria. However, this plan was thwarted by the Syrian National Army (SNA).
Noticing this move by the PKK/YPG, which aimed to capitalize on the opposition’s advance toward Aleppo, SNA groups launched the “Dawn of Freedom Operation” and quickly moved into action. By cutting off the road between Raqqa and Aleppo, they prevented the PKK/YPG from creating a terror corridor linking Tel Rifaat to northeastern Syria.
