In a video message sent to the “Future of Gaza” International Humanitarian Aid Summit, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to support Palestine and emphasized the country’s commitment to ending the violence in Gaza.

Key points of Erdogan’s message

  • Diplomatic efforts: President Erdogan highlighted Türkiye’s continued diplomatic efforts to rally Islamic countries in response to the violence in Gaza. He stressed that these efforts would persist until Palestinian sovereignty is realized.
  • Support for Palestinian statehood: Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s stance on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders. “We will continue our struggle until the occupation and massacres in Palestine come to an end,” Erdogan stated.
  • Humanitarian aid: The Turkish President emphasized that Türkiye has been one of the largest contributors to humanitarian aid for Gaza, sending over 86,000 tons of aid. He also mentioned that more than 1,300 tons of aid had been provided to Lebanon amidst the ongoing conflict.
  • Casualties, destruction: Erdogan condemned Israel’s airstrikes, which have resulted in nearly 50,000 Palestinian deaths, most of them women and children, and over 100,000 injuries. He also condemned the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure in both Gaza and Lebanon.
  • Solidarity with Palestine: Türkiye has been unwavering in its support for the Palestinian people, providing both humanitarian and financial aid in response to the ongoing violence.

We will continue our efforts until a free and sovereign Palestine is established.
