Japan-Türkiye 100th anniversary cultural show to be held in Istanbul
A special cultural event marking the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Türkiye will be staged in Istanbul. The event, titled “100th Anniversary Ceremony and Cultural Performance of Diplomatic Relations Between Japan and Türkiye,” will take place at Istanbul’s Ataturk Cultural Center (AKM) Theatre Hall on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Japanese culture in spotlight
The program will feature a series of performances that highlight Japanese culture, including a traditional dance performance by the State Folk Dance Ensemble, a Sai drum concert by the renowned Wadaiko drum group, and a collaborative performance by both groups.
The cultural show promises to offer a unique experience to the audience, combining both Turkish and Japanese artistic traditions.
Key dignitaries to attend
Among those expected to attend the event are the Crown Prince and Princess Akishino of the Altess Royal Family, who will be visiting Türkiye.
Japanese Ambassador to Ankara Katsumata Takahiko and Japanese Consul General in Istanbul Kasahara Kenichi, along with several key figures who have played significant roles in the historical relations and friendship between the two nations, are also anticipated to attend.
Wadaiko group’s international fame
The Wadaiko group, consisting solely of male performers, was founded under the slogan “Resonating Entertainment!” at the University of Tokyo. The group has gained international acclaim for its dynamic and powerful drum performances.
Having performed at numerous cultural events organized by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wadaiko has showcased its talents in over 35 countries and has held approximately 2,000 performances to date.
This cultural celebration will not only commemorate the longstanding relationship between Japan and Türkiye but also offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Japan, further strengthening the bonds between the two nations.
