Fenerbahce secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Slavia Prague in a UEFA Europa League Group D clash on Thursday, bolstered by a late goal from substitute Youssef En-Nesyri.

The hosts took an early lead at Fortuna Arena in the seventh minute, with Tomas Chory converting a close-range effort. Slavia Prague appeared to control the tempo in the opening stages, putting the Turkish side on the back foot.

However, Fenerbahce equalized in the 35th minute through veteran striker Edin Dzeko, who capitalized on a chance from close range to make it 1-1. The Czech team thought they had regained the lead in the 42nd minute when Lukas Provod found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside, keeping the score level at halftime.

The match turned in the visitors’ favor in the final minutes. En-Nesyri, introduced in the 78th minute, became the hero with a clinical finish in the 85th minute after an assist from captain Dusan Tadic.

The win pushes Fenerbahce to 15th in the Europa League standings with eight points, while Slavia Prague remains in 26th place with four points.

Fenerbahce will look to carry this momentum into their next group-stage match as they aim to secure qualification to the knockout rounds.
