Halil Umut Meler to officiate Al-Shabab vs Al-Hilal match in Saudi Pro League
FIFA-certified Turkish referee Halil Umut Meler has been appointed to officiate the Saudi Pro League match between Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal, scheduled for Saturday in the competition’s 12th week.
According to the Turkish Football Federation, Meler’s appointment follows a special invitation from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, which was approved by Türkiye’s Central Referee Committee.
The match will take place at Al-Shabab Stadium in Riyadh, with kick-off at 8 p.m. local time. Meler will be assisted by Turkish assistant referees Kerem Ersoy and Ibrahim Caglar Uyarcan.
Germany’s Bastien Dankert will serve as the video assistant referee (VAR), with Türkiye’s Murat Tugberk Curbay as the assistant VAR (AVAR).
Al-Hilal, currently in second place with 28 points, trails leaders Al-Ittihad by just two points. Al-Shabab, in fourth place with 22 points, is behind third-placed Al-Nassr on goal difference.
