9 suspects detained in operation against Daesh terrrorist group in Istanbul

Turkish authorities conducted an operation against the Daesh terrorist group in Istanbul, detaining nine individuals suspected of involvement in financing and supporting the terrorist organization.

The investigation was led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office’s Counterterrorism Bureau.

Allegations of financial support for Daesh

The suspects are accused of violating the “Law on the Prevention of Terrorism Financing” and being members of an armed terrorist organization.

According to financial and communication records reviewed by authorities, the suspects allegedly collected funds for the Daesh terrorist organization, facilitated financial aid distribution, and transferred funds on behalf of the group.

Based on the evidence gathered, Istanbul Counterterrorism Unit teams carried out coordinated raids. During the operation, nine suspects were apprehended, and search-and-seizure actions were conducted to gather additional evidence.
