A 33-year-old man identified as Bahtiyar Aladag killed seven people and injured two others in a series of shootings on Saturday before taking his own life, according to local authorities.

According to Turkish media, Aladag committed the murders in three districts of Istanbul.
The incident began when Aladag visited his family’s home on Saturday.

Following an argument, he allegedly shot his father, Muhammet Aladag, 65; his mother, Necmiye Aladag, 55; and his sister, Buket Aladag, 30.

Emergency responders pronounced Muhammet Aladag dead at the scene, while Necmiye and Buket were rushed to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, Necmiye and Buket succumbed to her injuries.

Shortly after, around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aladag drove to a hair salon in Istanbul’s Avcilar district and opened fire. Salon employee Mehmet Salih Ozsokuk, 30, Aladag’s wife, identified only as S.A., and her brother, Gokhan Soylu, 34, were killed.

Aladag then drove to Esenyurt, where he allegedly shot his cousin, Sadan Serdar Buke, 33, around 5:30 p.m.

Buke was transported to a hospital but died from his injuries.

After the shootings, Aladag reportedly returned to his vehicle and fatally shot himself in the head. The Istanbul Governor’s Office confirmed the sequence of events, stating that Aladag’s body was found in his car alongside the firearm used in the attacks and nine used shell casings.

Authorities also revealed that Aladag had a criminal record, including multiple charges related to drug use.

An investigation into the motive behind the attacks is ongoing.
