TRNC President Ersin Tatar says Turkish Cyprus should not be isolated and receive equal treatment with the Greek cyproits at the German Embassy
The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, has advocated for a two-state solution centered on equality to resolve the Cyprus issue.
Addressing a gathering at the Turkish Embassy in Berlin on Wednesday, Tatar emphasized the importance of sovereignty and expressed the desire of Turkish Cypriots for a fair and balanced agreement.
Tatar highlighted the necessity of lifting isolations to facilitate negotiations with Greek Cypriots, stressing the importance of establishing direct flights and trade opportunities.
Additionally, Tatar underscored the significance of ensuring athletes’ rights to participate in competitions and engage with their counterparts.
The Cyprus issue has experienced intermittent peace efforts, including an unsuccessful 2017 initiative in Switzerland with the support of guarantor countries Türkiye, Greece, and the U.K.
Previously, Türkiye reiterated its unwavering support for the TRNC following a January decision by the United Nations Security Council to extend the mandate of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the Island of Cyprus (UNFICYP) for another year.
