Istanbul water bills to increase by 17.5% starting in 2025
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Assembly approved a 17.5% increase in water tariffs to take effect in 2025 during a session of the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) General Assembly.
With the approved proposal, the first-tier unit price of water in Istanbul will rise from ₺32.28 ($0.94) to ₺37.92 ($1.10) per cubic meter.
Tariffs to be updated monthly
As part of the decision, water tariffs will be updated monthly starting in 2025, based on an average of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI), as announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Residential water tariffs
- First-tier (up to 15 cubic meters) prices to increase from ₺32.28 to ₺37.92 per cubic meter.
- Second-tier rates (16 to 30 cubic meters) to increase from ₺49.17 to ₺57.78.
- Third-tier rates (31 cubic meters and above) to increase from ₺71.10 to ₺83.55 per cubic meter.
Business water tariffs
- First-tier rates (up to 15 cubic meters) to increase from ₺84.51 to ₺99.30 per cubic meter.
- Second-tier rates (16 to 50 cubic meters) to increase from ₺89.49 to ₺105.15 per cubic meter.
- Third-tier rates (51 to 100 cubic meters) to increase from ₺109.98 to ₺129.24 per cubic meter.
- Fourth-tier rates (101 cubic meters and above) to increase from ₺114.99 to ₺135.12 per cubic meter.
Higher service fees
The fee for reconnecting water service will also increase significantly, rising from ₺228 to ₺379, marking a 66.22% hike.
