Turkish intelligence captures PKK-linked MKP member in ‘Middle East country’

The Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has apprehended Kadir Celik, a member of the outlawed Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MKP) linked to the PKK/YPG. Celik was on Türkiye’s most-wanted list in the gray category.

The operation took place in an unspecified Middle Eastern country, highlighting Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to track and detain individuals involved in terrorism-related activities.

Celik was identified as a member of the MKP, with evidence indicating collaboration with the PKK/YPG in terrorist activities. Türkiye’s Ministry of Interior had placed him in the gray category of the most-wanted list, signifying a high-priority target in counterterrorism operations.

MIT organized operation in Middle Eastern country

According to the information received from security sources, MIT organized an operation in a Middle Eastern country to capture MKP member terrorist Celik, who was identified to be in search of sensational attacks against Türkiye and was listed in the gray category on the terrorism wanted list.

Celik, who was captured in the operation, was brought to Türkiye and handed over to the security forces.

As a result of intelligence work, it was determined that terrorist Celik, who was active in the illegal organization of MKP in Istanbul between 2011 and 2016, participated in a Molotov attack during a road-blocking action in Okmeydani.

Celik, who went to northern Iraq in 2016 after his illegal activities in Türkiye, was found to have received assassination training in PKK camps in northern Iraq in connection with the cooperation between the MKP and the PKK and to have been carrying out armed activities in coordination with PKK elements in northern Syria since 2018.
