Turkish diplomatic sources reportedly reject Bloomberg’s report on Erdogan’s Ukraine peace plan
Diplomatic sources in Türkiye have reportedly refuted claims by suggesting that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan‘s plans to propose a freeze of the Ukraine conflict at the G-20 summit in Brazil.
The source, speaking to Russia’s RIA Novosti, emphasized that the reported initiatives attributed to Ankara do not reflect reality.
Bloomberg report sparks controversy
Bloomberg reported on Monday that Erdogan would present a proposal at the G-20 summit involving a cease-fire along the current frontline in Ukraine.
The plan allegedly includes the creation of a demilitarized zone in eastern Donbas and a request for Kyiv to delay NATO membership talks for at least ten years.
The report also suggested Erdogan would propose deploying international forces to the demilitarized area as a security guarantee.

The Turkish diplomatic source speaking to the Russian media outlet dismissed these claims, stating, “Parts of the Bloomberg article related to Türkiye do not reflect the truth.”
Senior sovereign strategist, economist Timothy Ash also echoed this sentiment, noting that “very good sources in Türkiye deny the Bloomberg story.”
Kremlin rejects Erdogan’s alleged proposal for cease-fire in Ukraine as ‘unacceptable’
The Kremlin dismissed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s reported proposal to freeze the conflict in Ukraine along the current frontline, labeling the suggestion as ‘unacceptable.’
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow would not support any form of cease-fire that involves freezing the combat line.
“The option of freezing along the battle line is a priori unacceptable for the Russian side,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“In this case, the June conditions formulated by President (Vladimir) Putin they remain fully relevant—what needs to be done in order for the hostilities to be stopped,” Peskov reportedly said.
Asked whether the leaders of Russia and Türkiye had not discussed Erdogan’s plan to freeze hostilities in Ukraine during their recent meetings, he said, “No, it has not been discussed, and we have paid attention to these publications, but we do not have any data on this yet, we do not know what may be in question.”
