Over 4 million British tourists visited Türkiye in 2024, setting a new record, according to the U.K.’s Ambassador to Ankara, Jill Morris.
Morris visited Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Buyukkilic as part of her agenda, which included the Türkiye-Wales national football match and various other engagements in the city.
Buyukkilic welcomed Ambassador Morris with flowers at the Metropolitan Municipality headquarters and showcased the city’s rich heritage through a presentation titled “The City of Riches: Kayseri.”
‘Türkiye very popular tourism destination among British citizens’
In her statement, Morris highlighted Türkiye as one of the most preferred tourism destinations for British citizens, expressing hope for further strengthening bilateral relations.
Mayor Buyukkilic also extended an invitation to Ambassador Morris to visit Kayseri during the winter for skiing. Buyukkilic introduced the Erciyes Ski Center, emphasizing its appeal to professional skiers and its excellent accessibility.
“Kayseri is undoubtedly the most favorable city in Türkiye for winter tourism,” Buyukkilic stated, adding that the ski center, managed by the municipality, offers top-tier facilities for visitors.
