Turkish intelligence arrests key member of PKK terrorist group in Istanbul
In a joint operation by Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization and Istanbul Police, Serdar Tunagur, a key member of the PKK/KCK terrorist group’s Portugal network, was arrested in Istanbul.
KCK is the umbrella body of the PKK terrorist group and its Syrian and Iranian offshoots.
This operation comes as part of Türkiye‘s ongoing efforts to dismantle the PKK, with Turkish intelligence delivering a significant blow to the organization’s operations in Europe.
Involved in PKK’s European activities
Authorities reported that Tunagur was actively involved in PKK/KCK activities in Portugal.
The intelligence gathered over time revealed his participation in various terrorist operations and events organized by the group.
Earlier, Tunagur had carried out activities on behalf of the PKK/KCK in rural areas and at the Makhmour camp.
He had been under close surveillance by Turkish intelligence agencies for a long period before being tracked to Istanbul.
Following his arrest, Tunagur was brought before judicial authorities, who ordered his detention. He was subsequently transferred to prison.
